The safe micro-needling (sometimes called collagen induction therapy) of the upper layer of older skin is a ‘microdermabrasion’ procedure. Micro-needles cause just enough stimulation to accelerate the natural growth of new skin, with a renewing and healing effect. It’s not as deep or invasive as deep peels and laser treatments which strip off a layer of skin. The results are visible from around 6 weeks later – smooth, glowing and healthy skin which is more receptive to prescription skincare.
For optimal results, we recommend 3-6 treatments with 4-6 week intervals. For severe scarring, up to 6 treatments may be required. Immediately following the treatment you may look like you have minor sun burn, and your skin may be warm and tighter than usual, this will begin to go down after 24 hours and will have completely gone down after 48 hours.
